SASS Canada: A Creative Adventure
for Young Songwriters
The GOALS of the School Alliance of Student Songwriters are
to encourage young people in their lives as they express themselves through songwriting
in a safe and supportive environment.
SASS provides students a forum for the art of songwriting,
as well as opportunities to connect with other artists,
both professionals and young peers.
Currently, about two dozen schools in the Durham region offer weekly SASS clubs to their students
thanks in large part to the time generously donated by volunteer teachers.
Many free SASS events each season, such as recitals, concerts, camps, writing contests
and weekend writing workshops have also been organized in various community venues for the benefit
of all young writers both in a SASS club and not currently connected to any school writing club.
Ultimately, SASS Canada challenges youth to learn together, stand together,
and form a strong generation of confident, creative young people
and new artists who are willing to make their world a better place through love and music.
